Providence Health And Services Organization - 2136 Words
Providence Health Services was established over 158 years ago, in 1856, when Mother Joseph of the Sacred Heart and four other Sisters of Providence arrived in the state of Washington and answered the call for help in a new pioneer community. The community was newly established and had no schools, hospitals, or other institutions of care, and the people were struggling to survive. In 1959 the sisters included their charity works into their mission, creating the network of healthcare services we know today. Providence is the second oldest non-profit healthcare organization in Washington (Providence Health Services, 2014). Providenceââ¬â¢s mission statement is, ââ¬Å"As people of Providence, we reveal Godââ¬â¢s love for all, especially the sick and vulnerable, through our compassionate service.â⬠And their vision is ââ¬Å"Together, we answer the call of every person we serve: Know me, care for me ease my way.â⬠(Providence Health Services, 2014, para. 1). A Society Of Constant Consumption Of Materialistic Objects
Money is underrated. This statement could come off to be absurd, in a society of constant consumption of materialistic objects. In an era where a person hardly has to be considered to belong to the upper class to drive a nice car or truck, pamper oneself with weekly pedicures or getting your hair blown out weekly because one does not want to did their selves, go out to eat on a frequent basis, have a housekeeper clean the house, or having someone do the yard work. This was all once reserved for only the upper class, and this was all unimaginable a few decades ago. With the advancement of technology, conveniences like these have been made possible through being able to just charge everythingââ¬âthis has become a national addiction. There is still a magnitude of people who would say money couldnââ¬â¢t buy happiness but the truth is a lot more in depth than that; money does in fact play an essential role in everyoneââ¬â¢s overall life gratification.
